Privacy Policy

Followed is a club digest app operated from Ireland. This page explains what we collect and why. It is written for a product that is not yet on the App Store. We will update it when that changes.

What we collect. You can sign in with Apple or Google. From Apple we receive an Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, a name and email. If you hide your email, Apple gives us a private relay address instead. From Google we receive the account name, email and a YouTube read-only token so we can list channels you already watch. We do not get permission to subscribe, comment or upload on YouTube. Apple Sign-In does not grant YouTube access; that stays a separate Google permission if you connect it. Age band (under 35 / 35–54 / 55+) is something you set in the app, not something Apple or Google tells us. Followed clubs and countries, read marks, chat messages in match rooms, and podcast resume points are stored on the device (SecureStore) and, where a feature needs it, against your account.

What we do not collect. We do not ask for payment card details in this version. We do not run an on-by-default betting widget. We do not sell your data. We do not scrape private messages from Instagram, TikTok or X. Social links in the app are official club URLs only.

Where content comes from. News, papers and podcasts are loaded from public RSS and publisher pages (for example BBC, club sites, The Athletic where a public feed exists). Video comes from YouTube. Live scores and lineups, when shown, come from public sports data sources such as ESPN’s public scoreboard. We do not host match video that belongs to a broadcaster.

Legal basis (GDPR). Signing in and following a club is contract / requested service. Device storage of preferences is legitimate interest in making the app work. You can wipe the local account from the Account screen. To delete anything we hold about you, email contact@tryfollowed.com and we will action it.

Retention. Device data stays until you wipe the account or uninstall. Server-side account data, when we add it, will be deleted on request or when the account is closed. Match chat rooms close 18 hours after kick-off.

Children. Followed is not directed at children under 16. Google Sign-In is not age verification. Features that must stay off for underage users (including any future odds module) stay hidden if age is unknown or under the local limit.

Transfers. Google and Apple process sign-in and store services outside Ireland under their own terms. We do not sell lists to advertisers.
